LA/SD Bush Fires
I've just received some updates from our PinoyMasons Yahoo Group, JoDem Olongapo City Yahoo Group and friends from the Los Angeles and San Diego areas. These are mostly brother Masons and families, as well as Job's Daughters and DeMolays.
As you can see on the news, it is not looking good and we all know too well the devastating effects of bush fires. Please spare a moment to pray for all LA/SD residents, that they may be spared and if ever no harm come to them.
Thanks!
Bro Mar

Just an update re San Diego and LA bush fires:
I have received various emails of prayers for the safety of our friends and their families in the affected areas. Thanks so much for your prayers.
I am happy and relieved that no one in our Masonic and Masonic affiliates or friends and relatives suffered in the aftermath of these bush fires. Except obviously for minor inconveniences...
Regards,
Mario
Subject: San Diego Wildfire
Just to keep the group updated on the latest that's happening around San Diego. Up to now,it is undetermined what caused them since all the firefighters are busy trying to save lives and homes. This fire started Sunday and is still going on today - Tuesday.
This morning at around 4am, when I got up to take a leak nakita ko iyong apoy sa may likod ng bahay namin (Spring Valley). I know na it was quite a distance but also knowing that this is a fast-moving fire, i decided not to
take a chance. Ginising ko sila Mama't Papa plus Dette and we started loading our cars with all of our important documents, some clothes and stuff. This is so that when they call a mandatory evacuation (which the city
has done in numerous places), ready na kami. Up to now (1pm) it is getting better in our area though around San Diego, the fire is still roaring.
Sa paligid ay umuulan ng abo. Ang dilim ng langit because of the smoke, and then amoy usok ang kapaligiran. This is really the worst fire San Diego
has had, I think. Talagang maraming nasunugan.
I tried calling Allan pero walang sumasagot sa kanila. I tried his and his wife's cell phone pero out of service daw (they were on a mandatory
evacuation order). i was able to get hold of Butch E who told me na
Allan and his family and Mom ay nasa kapatid ni Lucy dito sa National City. Annie F is also okay when I talked to her this morning. I haven't
got in touch with Sydney yet o sila Ver. The government is requesting that we limit the use of cell phones to emergencies only. My sister, Benniely
also had a scare. Malapit din sa kanila ang sunog but the latest that I have heard is that safe pa rin sila.
Hopefully they will be able to contain this very soon. Medyo lumalakas na naman ang hangin sa labas and if this continues, then we're in for a long haul..
Just pray for all of us here. I have no way of contacting them but I
hope that they are okay.
We are stil packed. Nakikita ko pa rin ang apoy pero the good thing now is that they are able to do water drops from the choppers which
they were not able to do before dahil sa malakas ang hangin at delikadong lumipad ang mga choppers.
Till next time. We all know that this too soon will pass pero hopefully e walang nasalanta sa mga tropa....
Netoy
Bro Netoy,
Thanks for the update and we will continually pray that everybody
would be spared of the devastating effects of the "bush fires" (yan ang
tawag namin dito, which is very commmon and an annual occurence din dito.)
We were glued sa tv at nakita namin yung devastation sa Malibu at SD.
Sabi eh some of the fires were started deliberately at nuong nakita namin si
Gov eh napalakas ng hangin, yung literally hangin.
Thinking yung lugar ninyo Netoy eh mataas at yung likod ninyo ay
palalim with bushes, hopefully di na umabot yung apoy and yung hangin would
die down.
While Annie I
know moved to another house than the one we spent our reunion. So hopefully
everyone will be spared, and if ever eh walang casualties sa ating mga bros
and sis at everyone sa LA/SD areas.
Our Pinoy Masons Yahoo Group, na ang karamihan eh nasa SD/LA areas eh
merong mga teams to help out primarily yung mga brods and families. If you
see a lodge, some are being converted and used for evacuation areas. I am
sure you guys will be most welcomed to those evac sites.
Keep us updated please. We will continue to pray for your safety....
Mar
Thanks to everyone. Please continue to pray in Jesus name that this
wildfire would now stop. Praise God that we are fine.
Tino
Thanks for your concern we are safe back home with my family. Fortunately we were not in the path of the wildfire. By God's grace our home was spared.
Thank you all again for you prayers and hopefully the fires will cease sooner than expected.
Ayos lang pare.
Allan
Update from San Diego...
I visited Ver and Brenda last Tuesday PM and they were just waiting for any eventual evacuation. We spent some time together remembering mga brods'
and sis' here sa USA, Diego Garcia, Australia, Philippines and also about the 2010 Reunion.
Afterwards, I went to Annie F but she was still at work...spent a little time with Diane, Mom and Dad. I tried calling Butch
E but limited and mga lines for emergency use only kaya it were either busy signal or just ringing and it died down. Tried calling Allan and Lucy and the kids 3 days earlier but couldn't get through.
As of now, Thursday AM, October 25, our place here is OK. We were next on the list for voluntary
evacuation but thank God the fire seemed to be contained "already" by San Diego area before I could ever leave. My kids and my mother in law who happened to be here the week of the fire arrived from the Philippines for medical. She was here also during the week of the 2003 fire and she experienced the ashes falling from the sky and the dark clouds and many houses (+ 500 ba?) burned down.
I'm glad that Allan, Netoy and Tino were OK. I received the e-mail just now and felt relieved as well. Keep us all posted mga brods and mga sis...Mails from all over make us "as if mga kapit-bahay lang tayong lahat."
God is good and always gracious,
Syd
Thanks Syd for the updates. At least we know that Netoy, Allan, Tino, Annie, you and your families are all ok. TV news we're getting here parang ok na at nag-di-die down na ang apoy (Is that right? Hope it is...).
Syd we are all good here in Sydney. Siyempre summer is coming at baka kami naman ang ma-bush fires.
Mario
Hello to everyone,
I thank God that things are getting better in San Diego. I also thank God that I finally have time to e-mail back at length.
Since June, I have beed travelling across the US starting with an almost 3 month Navy school in Newport, Rhode Island. From there, I went home to San Diego for 3 weeks and drove from San Diego through Arizona, New Mexico, El Paso, San Antonio, Houston, New Orleans, and finally to Pascagoula, Mississippi. It's a 2000 mile 4 day trip.
On my stop at Houston, I had the opportunity to eat lunch with Joey abd Dana A. It was a good mini reunion of sort. After 6 days in Pascagoula, I flew to Charlotsville, Virginia and will be here for about 3 weeks and hope to be home in San Diego for Thanksgiving weekend afterwhich I will fly back to Virginia.
Just talking about all these trips makes me and some of you tired. Nonetheless, thank you for all the prayers and the e-mails that truly helped us along. I'm blessed to have friends like all of you. O sige baka mapadrama pa tayo. God bless you all.
Tino
To all,
We are doing great now with God's help, the fire came very close to us we were surrounded we did not have to evacuate but we were ready just in case. Thanks for all your prayers. I also talk to Allan's daughter and they're all doing fine too.
Goya/Reby and family
Syd, Netoy, Tino, Ate Annie and Kuya Allan, thank God at okay naman
November, may you (and us too) have more birthdays and blessed years to come.
Although Kuya Relly is not posting sa mga email, I keep him updated and I can really say na miss na miss na rin niya ang mga kuwentuhan at company nyong lahat... he is doing okay and still undergoing his regular
treatment -- praise God for being good to us...
Syd, will keep your offer in mind -hindi pa nga ako nakakapunta diyan sa US eh- who knows maybe next year???
Again, keep us posted and keep safe.
God bless,
Recy and Rolland
day.....

Butch
